WHAT IS FIDELITY HOUSE?  Fidelity House is a non-profit community center that has been serving the needs of Arlington and surrounding communities for the past 53 years!   We offer programs for kids of all ages and aspire to fit the many needs of our community.   Our programs are designed to offer participants a chance to develop skills while having fun. 

 

HOW TO USE THIS BROCHURE  This Fall Brochure includes an overview of what is offered seasonally at Fidelity House and separate brochures describe several of these programs in depth and include registration forms.  Weekly newsletters are written September through June which offer the latest up-to-date information on what is going on at Fidelity House and can be obtained at our registration desk or on our website at www.fidelityhouse.org.   In addition, the local Arlington Advocate newspaper highlights current information.  

 
Registrations for any of these programs are taken at the Fidelity House office.  We are also happy to answer any questions you may have or mail information at your request.

HELPFUL FIDELITY HOUSE PROGRAM DEFINITIONS    

Preschool, Educational environment that children 2. 9 years – 5 year olds learn to develop their educational, emotional, physical and social skills.

PreKindergarten-  More advanced educational environment that children 4– 5 year olds learn to develop their educational, emotional, physical and social skills. 

School Age Child Care Program-  Structured After School Program offered for youth kindergarten through 6th grade.   Program includes coverage for after school hours, days off from school and ˝ days.  Transportation from local Arlington schools is included.   

Open Membership-  Encompassing program offered for 1st graders and up that kids tailor towards their own interests.   Youth combine a drop –in recreational experience with structured programs targeted for their own interests and development.  

The School Age Child Care Program (SACCP), established in 1984, provides a safe and creative environment for school age children in Kindergarten through 6th grade.  The program is fully licensed and follows the guidelines of the Department of Early Education and Care.   Parents have the option of enrolling in either
our After School Program,
our Full Day/Snow Day program or
both the After School & Full Day Programs  

The SACCP After School Program is based at Fidelity House and FiHo 2. Hours are from 2-­5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday during the school year.  The program also provides coverage during school early release days.  Extended care is available for children until 6:30 pm for an additional fee. The program consists of: arts & crafts, sports, table games, group games, trips, cooking classes and special events. Youth in this program may also register for the age appropriate sports/special interest seasonal programs that are offered during the times they attend.  A nutritious snack is served daily. Transportation from several of the surrounding public schools to Fidelity House is available. Brochures describing this program in detail and the registration information are available at Fidelity House.  Open House for the School Age Child Care Program 2008-2009 school year is the week of February 4 - 8,  2008. 

 
The SACCP Full Day/Snow Day Program We offer Full Day Programs from 8:00 a.m.  – 5:30 p.m. any time school is not in session.  Full Day coverage includes school holidays, vacation days, snow days and teacher conference days.  Families registered in this program then have the option to choose which days they would like their child to participate in.  Special local trips and special events are planned for those days. 

OPEN MEMBERSHIP Program is offered for youth in 1st – 12th  grades.  Members combine an age appropriate drop –in recreational experience with structured programs tailored for their own interests and development.  

Scheduled gym time, age designated game rooms, special interest youth programs, a drop-in arts and crafts program, and special events are available. A current membership is required for all drop-in & scheduled youth programs.  Members bring cards with them to check in.

Toddler thru Kindergarten Age

TOT TIME - Parents & kids time!  Toddler - 4 years olds. 1 hour structured activity time designed to develop the fine/gross motor & social skills. Parent remains with child. Fridays, 9:30 & 10:30 a.m. January 4- February 15, $28 - 7 wks. February 29 —April 18, $28- 7 wks,(no 3/21) $5 drop in fee/space permitting
 PRESCHOOL PROGRAM
The Preschool, now in its 31st year, is open to children 2.9 to 5 year olds.  ­Classes are offered weekday mornings from 8:45-11:45 a.m. and afternoons from 12:15 p.m.  – 3:15  p.m. The Pre-School is licensed under the guidelines of the Department of Early Education and Care (EEC). PREKINDERGARTEN PROGRAM 
This advanced Preschool program is offered Mon. through Fri., 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Registration for 3 - 5 days/wk. Brochures describing the program in detail are available at our office.  

PRESCHOOL SPORTS- Preschoolers 3- 5 years old will be introduced to the basics of sports in a fun way. Different sports will be highlighted each week with fun games designed for gross motor skill development, group social skills and physical fitness. Wednesdays, 10 - 10:45 a.m., Feb. 27 - April 2, April 9 - May 21 (no 4/23),  6 weeks, $24 fee, $24 fee, $5 drop in fee.

 GYMNASTICS –Established program for over 20 years!  3 different classes are offered for pre-school (ages 3-5) on Mondays, 12:30- 1:30 p.m., Thursdays 10 – 11 a.m. or Saturdays, 9:15 – 10:15 a.m.  Kindergarten classes are offered on Saturday, 10:45 – 12 noon and Mondays, 2:45 – 4 p.m.  Space is limited!   Winter sessions offered February 25 - April 12, April 14 - June 2.   Flyers describing the program in detail are available. 

DAWN'S DANCE- Dance classes taught by Dawn Palmer are offered for children, ages 2 1/2 & up. Classes offered are tap, jazz, hip hop and ballet.  Flyers are available or log on to www.Dawnsdance.com for more information. 

1st – 4th Graders
 
ARTS & CRAFTS-Free drop-in program offered on Tues., Wed., and Fridays, 2:15-4:30 pm. Recycled materials are used for many of the projects. Donations welcome.

GIRLSintheHOUSE  - 1st – 4th grade GIRLS meets Wednesdays at 3- 3:30 p.m.for girls only fun. FiHo girl Volunteer Club members organize games, activities & fun. Starts in October.  Membership or guest fee required.

GR. 1-4 SPORTS ACADEMY  Game fundamentals, drills & sportsmanship are incorporated into games.  Grades 1 & 2 meet 3 – 4 p.m. , Grades 3 & 4 meet 4 – 5 p.m.    BASKETBALL begins February 29 - April 18, 7 wks, $35 & FLOOR HOCKEY begins Tuesday, February 26 - April 15, $40, 8 wks.  SOCCER begins Tuesdays, April 29 - May 27, $25, 5 weeks & WHIFFLE BALL begins Friday, May 2 - May 30 (no 5/9), $20, 4 wks.  

 
JR NBA/WNBA LEAGUE- Fidelity House, in conjunction with the Jr. NBA and Jr. WNBA will be offering a Girls & Boys Basketball program for 8 –13 year olds. Every week, players learn a different skill of the game and play a league game.  Saturday and Sunday games, 10 game season begins FEb. 23 - Sun, April 13.  Players receive reversible jerseys that they can use for future leagues.  $55  (if already have shirt $42).  
 
MENOTOMY MANOR- Transportation is provided throughout the year to children living in Menotomy Manor. On site program on Thursdays. Parents are asked to call for further information.
FUNDAMENTALS OF LEARNING -A new and unique program designed for students of all grades that addresses a wide range of needs such as instructional mentoring, curriculum and test preparation, study methodology and techniques, and confidence development.  Managed and operated by an experienced professional, Sandra Houlihan.  A brochure describing the program in detail is available at Fidelity House. 

 

 
5th – 8th graders

5TH GRADE ONLY TRIPS- Periodic trips offered for 5th graders only.  Trips advertised in our weekly newsletter and Arlington Advocate.  
DODGEBALL DERBY- Grades 5 - 8.  Fun, action packed dodgeball games on Saturday 10 a.m., april 12 - May 3.  4 weeks, $16, $5 drop in fee for current members.

STICKBALL LEAGUE- Gr. 5 and up. Stickball games played on Frdiays, 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.  Outdoor league, dress appropriately.  7 weeks.  March 7 - may 2 (no 3/21 or 4/25).  $35 
VOLUNTEER CLUB- Grades 6-8. This is Fidelity House's Youth Board of Directors. Members help shape the future of Fidelity House, help out with varied activities and plan group trips. Call Fidelity House for more information.  
 
FITNESS CLUB- Strengthening & conditioning weight training program utilizing fitness machines specially designed for 5th 8th gr. youth. 6 week training periods Feb. 26 - April 8 (no 3/21), april 11 - May 27 (no 4/22 & 4/25).   Tuesdays 4:15 – 5 p.m., Fridays, 4:45 – 5:30 p.m. 6 prepaid visits in training period – $24, 12 prepaid visits = $48 and drop in fee = $5 per visit. 
BOYS 6th - 8th GRADE BASKETBALL NUTS LEAGUE – Boys Intramural basketball program for players who want to play more hoop.  Games played on Sundays and Friday evenings.  March 28 through May 4.  Registration fee is $70. 
GIRLS 5th - 8th GRADE SPRING HOOPBasketball league for girls in grades 5-8th.  The league consists of weekly games and drills taught by women basketball players/coaches.  Games played on Wednesday evenings March 12 - May 21 (no 4/23).  Registration fee is $70.

APRIL VACATION TRIPS FOR THE OLDER CROWD-   Age appropriate winter trips are scheduled for 5th – 8th graders during the April vacation week.  Flyers describing trips in detail will be available in April.   

AAU BASKETBALL TEAMS- Basketball teams for boys & girls are organized for area youth to play in area Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) tournaments during the Spring.  Tryouts begin in March.

ONGOING…Membership or Guest Fee required.
HIGH SCHOOL GYM TIME-Monday‑Friday, 2:00-3:00 p.m. Other times to be posted.
     DROP-IN GAME ROOM- Open Tuesday through Friday, 2-9 & Saturday 9 -4:45. The room is equipped with pool tables, ping pong, cable TV & video games.

HIGH SCHOOL NITES- Periodic Saturday evenings, 7:30-10:30 p.m. Freshman/Sophmores welcome.  March 29  is the next Saturday night scheduled.  Membership or $5 guest fee required for attendance.  Call for details. 
 
VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE- Thinking of working with children or a sports-related career your future? Opportunities to gain experience! Give us a call!  
 
AAU Spring Hoop-  Fidelity House offers high school players an opportunity to play in A.A.U. (Amateur Athletic Union) area tournaments during the Spring season.    Season starts in March and continues through June.  Fidelity House is entering our 8th season of AAU play for the Fidelity House Kings and 4th year for the Fidelity House Royals.

ADULT PROGRAMS

MENS' BASKETBALL LEAGUE Teams/individuals may sign up. Team fee = $600, individual fee = $80.  Leagues year round.

WOMENS BASKETBALL LEAGUE-Games played on Mon. nights.  Teams/ individuals interested, please call office.

ADULT VOLUNTEERS -If you are available to help out short term/long term or seasonal, please call.
